International Resources

 

In order to understand our world and the United States' role in it, there are several other important resources to become familiar with.

 

The Geneva Conventions

Held in Geneva, Switzerland, these conventions are agreements among many nations in the fair and equal treatment of people during times of armed conflicts.  A total of four conventions have been held with the last one being held in 1949.  For people to understand the principles that the United States has committed itself to uphold, it is important for people to check out the source documents and the see if we are measuring up to these standards.

 

The Communist Manifesto

 

The Communist Manifesto, is a short book written in 1848 by the German Marxist political theorists Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels. It contains their theories about about the nature of society and politics.  It also briefly features their ideas for how the capitalist society of the time would eventually be replaced by socialism, and then eventually communism.

 

Agenda 21

 

"Agenda 21" is a comprehensive plan of action to be taken globally, nationally, and locally by organizations of the United Nations System, Governments, and Major Groups in every area which humans impacts on the evironment."  -- U.N. Official Publication

 

 

DHS' Lexicon of Extremism

The Department of Homeland Security published a "Lexicon of Extremism" defining terms and groups that they feel represent a threat to our federal government.  Among the more disturbing are terms such as "Christian Patriot," "Constitutionalist," and "Anti-tax."  You'll want to check it out and read it for yourself.
